Trauma Minutes Vol. 2
Traumatic injuries to the head are an especially serious subset of injuries due to the potential to cause damage to the brain, neck, eyes and cosmetic facial structures and thus require quick identification and management to avoid long-term damage. Head and neck injuries can occur from a variety of mechanisms including blunt force from falls, car crashes or assault, this course will review symptoms and physical exam findings for injuries sustained via several mechanisms and address the appropriate management in the Emergency Department with radiographic imaging, medication interventions and specialty consultations. This course will also address procedural guidelines for mass casualty incidents. In this course you will learn when radiographic imaging is indicated and about classification schema for different injuries based on radiographic diagnostics. Audio modules will address symptoms, clinical presentation and appropriate emergent interventions necessary for a range of injuries to the thoracic cavity. The target audience of this course is emergency medicine physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, paramedics and EMTs. All of these clinicians routinely interact with patients that have suffered traumatic head injuries and their knowledge and care for these injuries will benefit from the educational content of this course.
