Trauma Minutes Vol. 1
Management of traumatic injuries is essential in the Emergency Department, especially when it involves injuries to vital organs in the chest and abdomen. While most facilities have trauma protocols that are followed to thoroughly assess patients, knowing when to order radiographic imaging and what type is imperative to identifying all potential traumatic injuries that may have occurred internally. In this course you will learn when radiographic imaging is indicated and about classification schema for different injuries based on radiographic diagnostics. Audio modules will address symptoms, clinical presentation and appropriate emergent interventions necessary for a range of injuries to the thoracic cavity and other areas of the body. Trauma in the elderly population also carries specific considerations that are reviewed. The target audience of this course is emergency medicine physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, paramedics and EMTs. All of these clinicians routinely interact with trauma patients and their knowledge of these injuries will benefit from the educational content of this course and enable them to better assist in emergent interventions.
