Orthopedic minutes vol. 1
Traumatic orthopedic injuries are commonly treated in the Emergency Department and can range from minor ankle sprains to more severe dislocations and fractures. It is important to recognize when radiographic imaging is necessary to assess these injuries and how to properly diagnose those that show no radiographic abnormalities before deciding how to manage the injury. This course will review common presentations of a range of orthopedic injuries, associated symptoms, exam findings, diagnostics and their appropriate management including splinting techniques. The target audience of this course is emergency medicine physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, paramedics and EMTs. All of these clinicians routinely encounter patients with orthopedic injuries and their knowledge and care for these orthopedic injuries will benefit from the educational content of this course.
